Irfan Selim, bodyguard put on fresh remand for 5 days

Irfan Selim, suspended Dhaka South City Corporation councilor and his bodyguard Md Zahid were put on five-day remand in two cases yesterday.
Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Md Kaisarul Islam passed the order allowing police to quizz them for three days in the firearms case. Earlier, Police sought seven days for questioning.
Besides, Magistrate Satyabrata Sikder of the CMM Court of Dhaka heard police plea for a seven-day remand of the two accused in a narcotics case. However, the court granted two days’ remand after hearing.
Inspector Md Delwar Hossain of Chawkbazar Police Station, who is the Investigation Officer of the cases, filed the remand pleas on October 29. The court fixed November 8 for hearing.
On October 28, the accused men were put on a three-day remand for assaulting a Bangladesh Navy Officer. A court granted police another two days to interrogate them in on November 1.
Irfan and several others assaulted Navy Officer Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan near Kalabagan traffic signal on the night of October 25.
