Riding on two brilliant hattricks by Fatemeh Ghasemi and Fatemeh Geraeli, Iran crushed UAE by 9-0 goals in Group B of the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship qualifiers in the opening match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Wednesday.
Iran led the first half 2-0.
Fatemeh Ghasemi made the first hattrick of the tournament scoring four goals in the 36th, 40th, 54th and 91st minutes. Captain Fatemeh Geraeli made the 2nd hattrick also scoring four goals in the 50th, 51st, 68th and 81st minutes while Hajar Dabbagi netted the other goal in the 63rd minute for Iran.
Iran spoiled another half dozen of easy scoring chances in the first half, most of which brilliantly tackled by UAE custodian Dalal. But, Dalal looked tired in the 2nd half and conceded goals, one after another, in a dismal performance.
Lowly rated UAE failed to make any good attempt towards Iran territory during the entire match.
After the match, Iranian captain Fatemeh Geraeli said: “We were confident of victory by a good margin (against UAE), and I was also confident of scoring three to fours goals.”
UAE head coach Samir said his team was not prepared to play 90-minute match. “Moreover, the local weather does not suit us.”
