Iran maintained their winning run in the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Qualifiers beating India 2-1 in their 2nd group B match at Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Friday.
Indian midfielder Premi Chiru scored first in the 13th minute to lead the first half 1-0.
Midfielder Anline Sharmila cut a through pass from the midfield and an onrushing Premi Chiru outran her marker to shot at goal. As the Iranian goalie Mobina Khodadad dived to block, the ball went out of her gloves into the net.
Iran immediately created pressure for an equalizer but their efforts eventually succeeded in the 71st minute when substitute midfielder Fatemeh Husseini displaying good footwork went past her marker and carried a square pass off Fatemeh Ghashemi to place the ball past Indian goalie Shreya (1-1).
Forward Fatemeh Ghasemi scored the match winner in the 88th minute. Skipper Fatemeh Geraeli floated a long ball from the midfield and unmarked Ghasemi slotted the ball into the far post net (2-1).
With the day’s one goal, Fatemeh Ghasemi scored the tournament highest five goals till Friday. She also made the first hat-trick of the tournament scoring four goals in the opening match against UAE on Wednesday. In the opening match Iran crushed UAE 9-0.
