The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday pressed charges against BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tareque Rahman’s mother-in-law, Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu, in a case filed for not submitting her wealth statement to the (ACC) in time.
ACC Deputy Director Abdus Sattar Sarker submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka on Tuesday.
Concerned officer of ACC prosecution at Dhaka court, told newsmen that Magistrate Shamsul Arefin of the court received the document and marked it as ‘seen’. Later, the court will hear on the acceptability of the charges and take relevant decision.
The anti-graft body issued a notice on January 25, 2013, asking Iqbal Mand Banu to submit her wealth statement.
But, as she failed to do so, ACC Deputy Director RK Majumdar filed the case with the Ramna Model Police Station on January 30, 2014. Banu is the wife of former Naval Chief Mahbub Ali Khan.
