The investigation officer (IO) in the trial of Syed Md Qaiser, charged with committing crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation, on Wednesday started submitting her deposition at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2.
ASP Monowara Begum started submitting her deposition but was forced to stop after a while due to illness, leaving her deposition incomplete. The ICT-2 then adjourned the hearing till July 7.
Meanwhile, the prosecution in the trial has taken back one of its petition, pleading for allowing them to submit some additional documents, that they submitted on Tuesday. The prosecution did it as the tribunal, after holding a hearing into the matter, said that they already have most of these documents and there is no need to submit these again.
In the meantime, the defence in the trial of Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam, has failed to conclude their cross-examination of the IO at ICT-1. The tribunal has asked them to conclude the matter by today for sure.
