Investors in the Shreehatta Economic Zone (EZ) will start setting up industries soon as the development work of the EZ is going on fast.
The information was revealed on Thursday at a seminar on Shreehatta EZ development at a hotel in Moulvibazar district, said a press release on Friday.
Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary M Nojibur Rahman attended the seminar as the chief guest while Executive Chairman of the National Skills Development Authority M Maruf Hossain was present on the occasion.
Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) Paban Chowdhury presided over the seminar. Nojibur Rahman said Bangladesh has become an attractive place for investment as the government is providing all sorts of facilities to the investors in the country.
He urged the investors to set up industries in the EZ as early as possible for creating employment opportunities.
Paban Chowdhury said BEZA is establishing green economic zones across the country for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“Gas connection has already been provided in the Shreehatta EZ. Other facilities will also be ensured soon. Investors can start their factory setting up activities soon,” he added.
Shreehatta EZ is located on 352 acres of land in Sherpur Sadar upazila. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone of Shreehatta EZ’s development work in February 2016.
The zone will play an important role in decentralization of industries and employment of about 44,000 people of Sylhet division.
