UNB, Kushtia :
Launching a scathing attack on Khaleda Zia for blaming the government for the killing of ‘Channel i’ programme presenter Maulana Nurul Islam Faruqui, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Friday said the BNP chief has the history of political killing and saving killers like Ziaur Rahman.
“Without knowing and understanding anything, Khaleda Zia held the government responsible
for Faruqui’s killing. It’s totally false. She did it in the past and still keeps on doing it,” he said.
Inu, also the president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad), was talking to reporters after exchanging views with his party leaders and activists at the local Circuit House in the morning.
The minister came up with the harsh remarks apparently in reply to Khaleda Zia’s allegation that a reign of killing has been established in the country.
In a statement issued condemning the killing of Faruqui on Thursday, the BNP chief said, “The country’s people are now living in such an uneasy calm and anarchic situation where an Islamic scholar has been killed by miscreants even after staying with his family members.”
About BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s claim that the current regime is illegal, Inu termed the government formed through the January-5 national election ‘constitutionally and democratically legal’.
He also observed that those who hatched a conspiracy to form an illegal government escaping the election are not fit for politics and democracy.
About Fakhrul’s remark that committees will be formed at villages to topple the government, the Jasad chief said BNP can constitute the committees across the country democratically. “However, the government will take stern administrative action if they carry bombs in hands and knives in waists during any procession and rally.”
Kushtia deputy commissioner Syed Belal Hossain and police super Praloy Chisim were present.
