The Bangladesh government will soon take a decision about banning Peace TV, a channel run by Islamic preacher Zakir Naik.
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu was speaking to bdnews24.com on Saturday, over a week after Dhaka’s deadliest terror attack was carried out by young gunmen, some of whom were followers of this controversial orator.
“We are aware of the allegations against this TV channel. Those will be investigated, he said. “The work will begin as soon as
the ministry opens. We will take a stand on the issue without delay.” Several cable operators in Dhaka have said they are waiting for government directives on Peace TV, a free-to-air channel.
When asked, the minister, said: “The offices will open tomorrow after Eid holidays. We will take a decision soon after that.” “We want to stop airing the channel throughout the country, said Mir Hossain Akhtar, head of Bangladesh Cable Owners Association, told bdnews24.com.
