Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu said that if one in every 100 person gives blood there would be no scarcity of blood in the country. The minister said this on Sunday while inaugurating a “World Voluntary Blood Donation Day” program as chief guest at Asean Medical College and Hospital at the city’s Khilkhet area.
Referring to the country’s politics, he said that militancy, communalism, obscurantism, superstition and partisanship were the germs of politics. They must be eliminated from our body polity for good. Only then the country would prosper. The minister said that the government under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina had developed an excellent healthcare system in the country with the establishment of 12,000 community clinics, which were catering to the need of almost two and a half lakh people every day.
The upazila health complexes and government hospitals were serving another 30 lakh people every day while another 5 lakh people were being treated by the private sector. “Those who are out to subvert this system, should be dealt with sternly”, the minister said.
“We should not attack hospitals based on rumors of patients’ dying,” he said.
