A workshop titled “International Conference of Disaster Risk Mitigation 2017” held at council bhaban on Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) campus in the city on Saturday.
BUET-Japan Institute of Disaster Prevention and Urban Safety (BUET-JIDPUS) and Department of Civil Engineering jointly organized the workshop, said a BUET press release.
International Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister and Chief of Governance Innovation Unit (GIU) Professor Dr Gowher Rizvi addressed the inaugural function as the chief guest.
BUET Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Saiful Islam presided over the programme while University of Asia Pacific (UAP) VC Professor Dr Jamilur Reza Choudhury presented a keynote paper in the workshop.
Senior representative of JICA Bangladesh Hitoshi Ara addressed the function as the special guest.
