With the joint initiative of SANAC (Sachetan Nagarik Committee), Bagerhat of TIB (Transparency International Bangladesh), Bagerhat District Mohila Parishad, CODEC and BRAC (non-Govt. organizations) the International Woman Day- was celebrated in Bagerhat District Town and it’s all the 9 Upazilas in a befitting manner on Tuesday as elsewhere of the country and across the world with the theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”.
 On the occasion a grand human chain was formed in front of Bagerhat Press Club on Tuesday morning with Adv. Ram Krisna Bosu, President of SANAC, Bagerhat in the chair while it was conducted by Shaikh Bashir Ahmed, Area Manager of SANAC, Bagerhat. The keynote paper on the day prepared by TIB was read out by Yes member Swadesh Rahman Palok before the human chain. The address of welcome was given in the human chain by Firoja Nasrin Dolly, the convener of the International Woman Day-2022 observance sub-committee of SANAC, Bagerhat explaining the significance and importance of the Day.
The human chain was addressed among others by SANAC members Principal Khondokar Asif Uddin Rakhi, Principal Saif Uddin Ahmed, Swajan member Dr. Gean Ranjan Chakbarty, Tahmina Begum Runu, Finance Secretary of Bagerhat district unit of Bangladesh Women Parishad, Josna Debnath, Education and Cultural Secretary of the same organization, S M Idris Ali, Coordinator of Bagerhat district branch of BRAC and Sayed Mahbubur Rahman, Focal Person of CODEC, Bagerhat.
Netrakona Correspondent says: The International Women’s Day was observed ere on Tuesday in a befitting manner.
District administration, district women affairs department, different government and non-government organisations chalked out various programmes marking the day.
As part of the program, a discussion was held at the conference room of Netrakona DC office here under the auspices of district administration and district women affairs department.
Habiba Rahman Khan Shefali, MP addressed the meeting as the chief guest with deputy commissioner Netrakona Kazi Mohammad Abdur Rahman in the chair.
The meeting was addressed, among others, by police super Mohammad Akber Ali Munshi, mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan and district women affairs officer Naznin Sultana.
Earlier, a colorful rally was brought out in the district town marking the day.
The rally started from Netrakona, DC office premises and ended at the same place after parading different main roads of the town.
Tarash (Sirajganj) Correspondent adds: The International Women’s Day has been observed at Tarash in Sirajganj on the initiative of BRAC on Tuesday. On the morning of March 8, BRAC’s social empowerment and legal protection programme at the Upazila Parishad premises celebrated the International Women’s Day with the Upazila administration. Rallies, human chain and discussion meetings were held on this occasion. Among others ,Vice Chairman of Upazila Parishad Anwar Hossain Khan, newly elected Chairman of Magura Binod UP Mehedi Hasan Magnet, Sadar UP Chairman Babul Sheikh, General Secretary of Swechchhasebak League Lutful Kabir Limon, Associate Officer of BRAC ‘Selp’ Chalma Akhter and members of Palli Samaj, clients and other women are leaders of the society participated in the programme.
