International Women’s Day was celebrated by North South University (NSU)’s English and Modern Language Department recently. Presented at the ceremony were as special guest Professor Emeritus Dr Anisuzzaman, Chairman of Bangla Academy and the first female Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Dhaka University Professor Dr Sadeka Halim.
Prof Dr Gias U Ahsan, Pro-Vice Chancellor (D) of NSU spoke about the significance of Women’s Day. Teachers, students, officers and employees of the university were also present in the program. Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain’s famous novel “Sultana’s Dream” was staged during this period.
