The International Women’s Day was being celebrated in the country, as elsewhere across the globe, on Tuesday recognizing female leadership on climate change adaptation and response for a sustainable future.
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow’.
District Administration in Kishoreganj, Police Women’s Network, Women Affairs Department, BRAC, POPI, Mohila Parishad, TIB and others women organisations arranged various programmes marking the International women’s day.
“The year 2022 is pivotal for achieving gender equality in the context of climate change, and environmental and disaster risk reduction, which are some of the greatest global challenges of the twenty-first century,”
Women Affairs Department including District Administration in Kishoreganj arranged a discussion meeting at local collectorate conference room on Tuesday morning.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Shamim Alam attended as chief guest while Women Affairs Deputy Director (DD)Mamunur Rashid presided over.
 Additional SP (Crime & Operations) Muhammad Noor-e-Alam and ADC (General) Nazmul Islam were attended as special guests.
It was addressed among others by,,, Deputy Civil Surgeon (DCS)Dr.Zahir Talukder, District Press Club president Mostafa Kamal, Mohila Parishad district secretary Atiya Hossen master, Sanak-TIB, Kishoreganj convenor Saiful Haque Mollah Dulu, Women leader Khohinoor Afzol and BRAC district Manager Shafiqul Islam.
Veteran Freedom Fighter Professor (Retd.)M.A Gani, CAB district president Alam Sarowar Tito, Mohila Awami district secretary Bilkis Begum and others dignified persons were also present.
DC in Kishoreganj Mohammad Shamim Alam said, the achievement in empowering women over the last 50 years has introduced Bangladesh as a role model in the world.
The pregent government has beem implementing massive programmes to prevent all kinds of violence on women, along with establishing women rights, spreading education for them and empowering women to establish gender parity., DC added.
Additional SP Muhammad Noor-e-Alam said, The women are now playing a vital role in different areas including Administration, Politics, judiciary, education health, armed forces, law enforcers agencies due to time befitting and pragmatic measures in the government.
Women -men would work together to make development sustainable in all sector for building a happy prosperous Bangladesh ‘,
ADC (General) Nazmul Islam Sarker said that With the joint efforts of women and men Bangladesh achievee Independence of the country, implementation of vision -2041 would help build a hungry -poverty free prosperous Bangladesh demand by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu.
Later, A human chain at local Collectorate building demanding gender equipment and stop violence against women.
Staff Reporter,Rangpur reports : On International Women’s Day, a human chain discussion meeting was organized in Rangpur. A discussion meeting was held at the RDRS Auditorium in front of the Town Hall on Tuesday afternoon with the theme “Gender Equality for Sustainable Future under the Child Marriage Prevention Project in Bangladesh”.
DC Rangpur Md. Asib Ahsan was the chief guest. Kawsar Parveen, Deputy Director, Department of Women’s Affairs, was presided over by Rosie Rahman, Chairman, National Women’s Organization, Shirin Akhter, Lawyer, Md. Nazrul Gani, Head of Administration and General Service, RDRS Bangladesh, Fakhrul Alam Benju, Principal, Shah Alam and others.
Also present were members of the Rangpur Women’s Violence Prevention Committee, members of the Professional Forum and members of the Youth Network Rangpur and TIB’s Youth Network. Speaking as the chief guest, he said that the success of today’s Women’s Day will be possible only if everyone has to work in unity to prevent child marriage.

BSS from Rajshahi adds: Various government and non-government development rganisations observed the International Women’s Day-2022 befittingly here Tuesday with the unanimous call of freeing the womenfolk from all sorts of violence, disparity and discrimination. ‘Teksai Agameer Jonnya, Gender Samotai Aj Agraganna’ was the theme for International Women’s Day 2022.
Marking the day, the district administration and department of women affairs jointly organised a discussion meeting at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Rajshahi city.
 Local unit chairman of Jatiya Mohila Sangstha Morjina Parveen and Deputy Director of the Department of Women Affairs Shobnom Shirin also spoke.
 The discussants unanimously termed the day’s theme as time befitting in the current perspective and wished success of all programmes of the day.
 In her remarks, lawmaker Anjum Mita said the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for the development and empowerment of women. She said the government has also attained success in the field of establishing equal rights for women side by side with generating employment opportunities for them.
 Besides, the present government has taken various initiatives to create a women-friendly atmosphere in the country so that women can play an important role in boosting economic development. She mentioned gender balance is the precondition to substantial and sustainable progress of the nation and it is very important to the development of the national economy.
Responsive support from the community, especially teachers, parents and leaders of influence has become a must for stopping child marriage.
Eradicating child marriage is imperative as the social menace hampers many socio-economic developments in the country.
 Advocate Mita said more community participation is needed to build a society free from child marriage as it’s a precondition to end violence against women.
Various other development organisations including Bangladesh Mohila Parishad, Barendra Unnayan Prochesta, Association for Community Development (ACD) and Ladies Organisation for Social Welfare also observed the day through separate programmes.
