An international conference titled “Urdu Literature in 21st Century” began on Monday on Dhaka University campus. Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the conference as the chief guest at RC Mazumder Auditorium of the university, organised by DU Urdu Department.
Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof. Dr. Abu Md. Delwar Hossain, Director of National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, India Dr. Shekh Aquil Ahmad and Chief Patron of Bazme Sadaf International, Qatar Md. Sabih Bukhari addressed it as special guests, with Convener of Conference Organizing Committee Dr. Rashid Ahmad in the chair.
While addressing, DU VC Prof Dr Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for intellectual interaction among the philologists of various languages to upgrade the country’s education and research.
He hoped that this conference would create common platform for researchers and play an important role to enhance the quality of research. Besides the locals, Academicians, researchers, poets and writers from different countries including India, Canada, Germany, England, Norway, Finland, Iran, Qatar, Egypt and Mauritius are participating in the conference.
