An international symposium on Environment, Disaster and Health began on Dhaka University (DU) campus.Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the function, jointly organised by Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies (IDMVS) of DU and International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing on Wednesday in the auditorium of university’s Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban. State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman addressed the inaugural function as the chief guest with Director of IDMVS of DU Dr Mahbuba Nasreen in the chair.
“Bangladesh has to face some natural disasters due to climate change,” the state minister said, adding that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has become able to reduce the risk and damages of disaster by taking some effective measures to prevent it.
A good number of students, teachers and renowned international experts on disaster management, medical science and environmental science took part in the symposium.
