Int’l standard dry fish processing industry in Cox’s Bazar

Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim said that an international standard dry processing industry is being set up in Kangbazar to develop the country’s fisheries resources. The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the office building of the project to set up a dry processing industry in Cox’s Bazar district, which is being implemented by BFDC, at a place adjacent to the Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation (BFDC) fish landing center at Cox’s Bazar on Saturday.
Presided over by BFDC chairman Hemayet Hussain, the function was attended among others by Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Muhammad Yamin Chowdhury as special guest. Zafar Alam MP, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Taufiqul Arif, Director General of the Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute Yahya Mahmud, Director General of the Department of Fisheries Mahbubul Haque, Deputy Commissioner of Kangbazar Mamunur Rashid and Cox’s Bazar Municipality Mayor Mojibur Rahman.
Later, the Minister inspected various shrimp plots under the Fisheries Department at Rampur in Chakaria Upazila and gave necessary directions to those concerned to resolve the issue.
