Int’l show signals boost in Bulgaria’s agri products

The 23rd International Agricultural Exhibition AGRA kicked off at the International Fair in Plovdiv Tuesday, showing the upward trend in the industry.
Ivan Sokolov, Board Chairman of International Fair Plovdiv, said at the opening ceremony that the event involving over 470 direct and represented exhibitors from 22 countries, showed a significant turnaround highlighting agriculture as a leader of the Bulgarian economy.
The number of exhibitors increased with 7 percent and occupied area was up by 26 percent year on year, while the number of innovation products displayed during the five- day event was 69 – a record for the last four years, Sokolov said.
Agriculture was the sector that has changed the most since the entry of Bulgaria into the European Union (EU), and AGRA was where it demonstrated its new face, he added.
Dimitar Grekov, Minister of Agriculture and Food, said that from 2014 to 2020, his country would receive in the field of agriculture 15 billion BGN (some 10.559 billion U.S. dollars) under the EU funds. This money would be a major source not only for the development of the agricultural sector in the country, but also for its modernization and competitiveness in the market economy, Grekov said.
Equipment, technologies, seeds and livestock increasing production effectiveness, reducing costs and improving yields are presented at the event, along with a comprehensive business program comprising over 30 conferences, seminars, roundtables. Muyang Group participates in the exhibition for the second year.
“We have signed an agreement with a local company which runs for pet forage processing in Lovech, Bulgaria. Muyang Group will provide the bulking machine and drying plant, as well as technical service for creating more values for our client,” said Ding Jian, Eastern Europe regional manager of Muyang Group told Xinhua.
Ding Jian added that Muyang Group has established a research institute based in Denmark, in order to improve the research and development level and core competitiveness.
