An international seminar on ‘Strategies for Professional Development of Seafarars in Global Shipping’ will be held at Hotel Redisson Blu in the city on August 27.
To be organized by Department of Shipping, the seminar will be attended by Kitack Lim, secretary general of International Maritime Organization (IMO), a specialized agency of the United Nations, as the guest of honour.
Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan disclosed this at an inter-ministerial meeting held at the meeting room of his ministry on Wednesday, said an official release.
The speakers, in the seminar, will focus on how to increase employment opportunities for Bangladeshi sailors by improving their skills, Khan said.
