Grameenphone and UNICEF on Tuesday observed international “Safer Internet Day” together on International School Dhaka (ISD) campus.
The event was organised to build better awareness on safety measures that both students and guardians can adopt positive digital learning experience. A total of 250 students from Grade 5 to 10 were provided a better understanding of online safety through a game designed to help children to develop the knowledge and skills they need to navigate the online world in a safer and more enjoyable way.
Chief of Child Protection at UNICEF Jean Jieby said, “In the midst of growing internet users, violence online including cyber bullying is a growing global problem.
The violence that children face in their homes, schools and communities is often amplified in the digital world.” Grameenphone Deputy CEO and CMO Yasir Azman said “We can’t simply keep our children away from internet as the internet is the single most powerful tool to take education and knowledge to the furthest reaches of our county. So, ensuring safer internet should be the first and foremost concern for the guardians, teachers and everyone involved in this ecosystem.”
