International Day of Literacy was observed in Faridpur on Monday holding rally, seminar and hand-writing competition for the students at primary level.Speakers addressing the seminar titled ‘Literacy and Sustainable Development’ said that newly introduced National Education Policy and other comprehensive measures taken by the government have helped increase the literacy rate to a great extent.The seminar held at DC’s conference room was organized by the district administration with Sadar upazilla chairman Kh. Mohtesham Hossain Babor as the chief guest and ADC(Gen) M.A. Rashid in the chair. The key-note paper on the literacy situation in the country was presented by NGO Racine Executive Director Asma Akhtar Mukta.
