Like other countries around the globe, Bangladesh observed the International Literacy Day on Thursday emphasizing narrowing down the digital divide to boost up the literacy rate. This year’s theme of the day is Transforming, literacy learning Space , Exploring opportunites and Possibilities. Kishoreganj district administration including non-formal education programme held a discussion meeting at local collectorate conference room on Thursday. DC Mohammad Shamim Alam attended as chief guest while ADM Farhad Chowdhury presided over. It was addressed, among others, by ADC (Education and Ict) Golam Mostofa , Assistant Director in Non-Formal Education Programme Bureau Md. Abdul Malaque, , District Primary Education Officer (DPEO)Subratra Pall, CAB district President Alam Sarowar Tito, Technical Training College principal Engineer Rafiqul Islam, BRAC district Manager Safiqul Islam. DC Mohammad Shamim Alam said along with overall improvement of the country’s education system, the government is implementing multipurpose activities to boost up the literacy and develop skills.
BSS from Bogura adds : The International Literacy Day was observed in the district as elsewhere in the country on Thursday in a befitting manner.
This year’s theme of the day is ‘Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces: Exploring Opportunities and Possibilities’.
Marking the day, the district administration and the Bureau of Non-Formal Education jointly organised separate programmes including discussion.
On the occasion of the day, a discussion meeting was held at the conference room of deputy commissioner (DC) office. DC Md. Ziaul Haque addressed the function as the chief guest with additional deputy commissioner (Education and ICT) Nilufa Yasmin in the chair this morning.
Additional Superintendent of Police Helena Akhtar, District Education Officer Hazrat Ali, Assistant Director of Non-formal Education Bureau Rabiul Islam, among others, spoke on the occasion.
