Int’l Jr Tennis: 2 Indian pairs reach girls’ doubles final

Two Indian pairs reached the girls’ doubles final of the Islami Bank Bangladesh 31st International Junior Tennis Championship eliminating their rivals in the semifinals at the Ramna National Tennis Complex on Thursday.
Indian pair Yubarani Banerjee and Prathyusha Rachapudi beat their compatriots Meghna Mallath and Ishita Singh by 7-6, 7-5 while another Indian pair Riddhi Ramesh Sharma and Mubashira Anjum beat Chinese Taipei pair Ja- Yo Hou and Chen Chen LIAO by 7-5, 6-2 to reach final.
Besides, the boys and girls singles events advanced to the semifinal stages on the 4th day of the meet at the same venue on Thursday.
In the boys’ singles, Karan Srivastava (IND) beat Kevin Patel (IND) 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, Rishabh Sharda (IND) beat Srivatsa Ratakonda (IND) 6-2, 6-3, Guntinun Sootinun-OPART (THA) beat Jian Keong Takeshi Koey (MAS) 6-4, 6-2 while Danial Ahmad Farid (MAS) beat Kushan Shah (IND) 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
In the girls’ singles, Wanyi Zhang (CHN) beat Yu Chin Tsai (TPE) 6-1, 6-3, Riddhi Ramesh Sharma (IND) beat Ya-Jo Hou (TPE) 6-4, 6-1, Ling Hsuan WEI (TPE) beat Prottsha Rachapudi (IND) 4-6, 6-3, 6-0, and Wei Ning FANG (TPE) beat Shiwen Tang (CHN) 6-1, 7-5
The boys’ and girls singles semifinals will be held on Friday morning while boys doubles in the afternoon.
