A day long international conference titled “Water issues and sustainable development” was held at Jahir Raihan auditorium of Jahangirnagar University on Friday.
Bangladesh National Geographical Association (BNGA) organised the conference in association with the Geography and Environment Department of the university for the 15th time.
JU Vice Chcancellor Prof Farzana Islam inaugurated the conference as the chief guest while Pro VC Prof Amir Hussain (Administration), Pro VC Prof Abul Hossain (Academic) and treasures Prof Sheikh Monzurul Huq addressed the conference as special guest. Prof Syed Rafiqul Alam Rumi, Geography and Environmental Studies department of Rajshahi University chaired the conference while Professor Ranjan Basu of Calcutta university of India presented the key note paper at the conference. A total of 70 research papers on water issues and sustainable development were presented by teachers and students at the conference. Around 200 teachers, students and researchers were present at the conference.
