Chittagong Customs House observed the International Customs Day-2017 through various programmes on Wednesday. The theme of this year is “Data Analysis for Effective Border Management.”
Marking the day, Chittagong Customs House brought out a colorful rally from city’s Customs House area around 8.30 am which ended at the same venue after parading different city thoroughfares. Chittagong City Mayor AZM Nasir Uddin inaugurated the rally as the chief guest.
On the occasion, a seminar was organized at Customs House auditorium this noon with Chittagong Customs Commissioner AFM Abdullah in the chair.
State Minister for Finance and Planning M A Mannan addressed the seminar as chief guest while MA Latif, MP, Chairman of Chittagong port Authority Rear Admiral Khaled Iqbal, National Board of Revenue Member Reazaul Hasan, Commissioner of Tax Appellate Zone Mahbub Hossain, President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industries Mahbubul Alam, senior officials of Chittagong Customs, Exercise and VAT Commissionerate, among others, attended.
Speaking on the occasion, MA Mannan urged people to extend their cooperation in analyzing data for Infective border management in customs system so that more revenues could be generated for achieving middle income country status by 2021.
The state minister also urged Chittagong Customs House officials to work with sincerity and honesty to remove the hassles of its clients and maintain transparency.
