UNB, Dhaka :
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday told Parliament that an international conspiracy is on to destabilise Bangladesh like other Muslim majority countries of the world.
“Some are creating troubles in the countries where Muslims are the majority. In our country, Muslims account for 90 percent of the total population,” she said taking part in an
unscheduled discussion. Asserting that she will not allow anyone to make Bangladesh a den of militants, Hasina said her government has been able to maintain peace in the country having 90 percent Muslim population.
“The people of all faiths are performing their rituals peacefully…most people are living a safe and peaceful life in the country, but some vested quarters cannot like this ideal situation [in Bangladesh],” the Prime Minister told the House.
Hasina said efforts are on to let loose militants in Bangladesh. “I won’t let anyone to unleash militancy in Bangladesh as long as I’m alive, come what may…I just want the cooperation of people,” she said.
The Prime Minister called upon people not to be misguided by the propaganda of the vested quarters.
