Int’l conference on Bangabandhu at JU today

A two-day international conference on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his legacy are scheduled to be held on December 12 and 13 at the Jahangirnagar University campus.
International Institute of Peoples’ History jointly organised the conference with JU history, archeology department, and the Bangabandhu Institute of Comparative Literature and Culture of the university.
JU vice-chancellor Professor Farzana Islam will inaugurate the conference at the university’s Zahir Rayhan auditorium on Sunday morning while minister of the planning ministry Muhammad Abdul Mannan will be present as chief guest.
Organising committee of the conference disclosed the event at a press meet held at the teachers’ lounge of the new arts building of Jahangirnagar University on Friday afternoon.
Former vice-chancellor of Rabindra Bharati University Professor Pabitra Sarker, emeritus professor Ajit Sing Sikand of the Gutenberg University of Germany, joint secretary of All India History Congress Professor Bodh Prokash, dean of the faculty of arts and humanities of NSTU Professor Dibyaduti Sarker will speak on the conference among others.
Besides, a total of 102 research papers on Bangabandhu will be presented on the conference by some undergraduate students across the country.
A cultural session will also be staged at the JU Zahir Rayhan auditorium as the concluding session of the conference on Monday afternoon.
Zannatul E Ferdousi of an institution devoted to Bengali culture-Chayanaut, ParvinAkter of Surer Dhara, Salma Munni of Nrittyakkha, and performers from cultural organisation Sur-Boithak will perform at the session.
