A two-day international conference titled ‘Energy Security in South Asia Plus: Relevance of Japanese Experience’ will begin in the city on Wednesday to discuss energy security in South Asia and beyond.
Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) will host the conference at its auditorium.
In the inaugural session, experts from Bangladesh, Japan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan and Myanmar, including Assistant Director of Institute of Energy Economics, Japan Ichiro Kutani, South Asian expert Prof Mahendra P Lama and former Indian Power Secretary RV Shahi, will present papers on energy security.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, Prime Minister’s Energy Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chodhury, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid and Japanese Ambassador in Dhaka Masato Watanabe will attend various sessions of the two-day event.
