Dhaka University Zoology Department and Zoological Society of Bangladesh on Saturday held their 19th biennial international conference and annual general meeting at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
Science and Technology Affairs Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman joined the function as the chief guest while Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique and former secretary of Posts and Telecommunication Ministry Sunil Kanti Bose addressed the conference as special guests.
The main theme of the conference was “Zoonotic Diseases in Bangladesh”.
Noted Zoologist Touhid Uddin Ahmed presented the keynote paper.
Architect Yeafesh Osman said the government is taking forward the country through expansion of science and technology education.
He urged the scientists to work relentless on innovative research and reach yields to the doorsteps of the people.
Professor Arefin Siddique said the zoologists will have to find out the ways to overcome the crisis of the world which popped up due to terrorism, violence and communalism.
He called for introducing science-based education at all levels of education as it is the remedy to all social problems.
