The European Union (EU), Canada and the United Kingdom on Wednesday expressed deep shock at the loss of lives in landslides while the EU offered support to alleviate the impact of this severe natural disaster.”If requested, the European Union stands ready to provide support to alleviate the impact of this severe natural disaster,” said EU Ambassador to Bangladesh Pierre Mayaudon.
He expressed his heart-felt sorrow and solidarity for the loss of lives and property caused by landslides in Chittagong, Rangamati and Bandarban in the early hours of June 13.
Ambassador Mayaudon, in a message, also expressed his sympathy to those who have died while conducting rescue operations. “As a longstanding partner of Chittagong Hill Tracts, the European Union sends a strong message of solidarity to all affected people,” said the EU Ambassador.
