Staff Reporter :Allegations have been raised against the police department about their ill-effort to suppress the killing of 13-year-old Samiul Hasan Rajon and providing help to prime accused Kamrul Islam to flee the country by taking a large-amount of bribe. Police Headquarters sources said, INTERPOL Dhaka office on Wednesday sent a letter to Saudi Arabian police to start the procedure of sending back expatriate Bangladeshi Kamrul Islam.”The Jeddah police received a letter from Dhaka in this regard. Kamrul was sent to jail by Jeddah police on Wednesday after completing official procedure. He will be repatriated to Dhaka soon after the Eid,” Altaf Hossain, First Secretary at Bangladesh Consulate in Jeddah, said yesterday. He said, “As per the procedure, the Saudi Interior Ministry will forward the INTERPOL’s letter to the King of KSA for his approval to send back Kamrul to Dhaka. The procedure of sending him back is now slow as the Saudi government offices remained closed from Tuesday for Eid.”Meanwhile, the case, filed over killing of Rajon with Jalalabad police station in Sylhet, was transferred to the Detective Branch [DB] of Police for fair investigation yesterday. DB Inspector Suranjit Tarafdar was given charge to investigate the sensational murder case.Besides, a Sylhet court yesterday put Moyna Mia alias Boro Moyna, 45, an accused in Rajon murder case, on a five-day remand after police produced him before the court seeking a seven-day remand. Sylhet police on Tuesday night detained Moyna in the murder case.Sylhet police yesterday detained another suspect, Dulal Miah, in the case. Police with the help of local people detained Dulal Mia, a tea seller, from Sheikhpara of Kumargaon area of Sylhet Sadar upazila around 2:30pm. Four men have so far been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of the teenage boy.Rajon’s father Sheikh Azizur Rahman has categorically blamed two officials of Jalalabad police station for taking bribes to help one of the suspects – Kamrul Islam – to flee to Saudi Arabia.He said when he went to file a case for the murder of his son; Kamrul’s family offered him Tk 6 lakh to settle the issue without pursuing any legal action. “He first went to Jalalabad police station around 10pm last Wednesday; he found OC [Investigation] Alamgir Hossain and SI Aminul Islam holding a private meeting with the accused.””When my relatives tried to enter the OC’s room, SI Aminul misbehaved with them and forced them out of the thana I think, the men had reached an agreement on allowing Kamrul to flee abroad and letting the already arrested Muhith Alam walk free,” he added.In this regard, ADC of the Sylhet Metropolitan Police Rahmat Ullah said that Jalalabad police station SI Aminul had been closed and instructed to report to the Deputy Police Commissioner’s office. Aminul Islam allegedly misbehaved with Rajon’s father and helped Kamrul flee. “We are investigating how a suspect was allowed to flee with the help of the police and how the Jalalabad police had misbehaved with Rajon’s family,” the ADC said.Police earlier had arrested Moyna Mia, a security guard and one of the accused in the killing case from Tukerbazar area of the Sylhet city. He was in hiding at a relative’s house in Pirpur, a neighbouring village to his home in Kumargaon. After prayers, some villagers got hold of him and handed him over to police.State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki yesterday visited the family of Rajon and handed over a cheque for Taka one lakh to his parents.The State Minister went to Abedali village of Kandigaon union in Sadar Upazila at around 1:30 pm and met with the parents and other relatives of Rajon. She talked to them and handed over a cheque for Taka one lakh to Rajon’s parents on behalf of the Ministry for Women and Children Affairs.”I have made the visit at the instruction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. I find no word to console Rajon’s family,” the State Minister said while she was talking to journalists after coming out of Rajon’s house.She said Rajon’s killers would be tried within the shortest possible time so that no more incident of child repression takes place in the country in future. The Ministry for Women and Children Affairs would monitor this murder case, she added.Rajon, the teenage vegetable vendor and son of a driver, was tied to a pole and beaten up for nearly 30 minutes until he died due to the torture while one of the attackers filmed the gruesome incident and uploaded it on his Facebook page.He screamed for help, cried for water and begged for his life while the killers laughed and jeered at him in the 28-minute video of the July 8 incident in Kumargaon of northeastern Sylhet Sadar Upazila following allegations that the teenager had stolen a rickshaw van.
