Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Wednesday visited the house of Sheikh Md Samiul Alam Rajon, who was beaten to death few days ago in Sylhet city.
He handed over a cheque of Tk 1 lakh to Rajon’s parents on behalf of the ministry of Home Affairs. The minister went to Abedali village under Kandigaon union in sadar upazila in the afternoon and met the parents and other relatives of Rajon.
At that time, the locals demanded the minister to try the killers of Rajon murder in a Speedy Trial Tribunal.
In reply, Kamal said necessary steps would be taken after discussing with the Ministry of Law. “Several accused have already been arrested by this time,” he said.
Meanwhile, Interpol have issued a red notice against Kamrul Islam, prime accused in the murder case of Rajon.
In the notice detail, his charges were mentioned as Murder, destroying evidence.
A gang of killers murdered the boy at Kumargaon on the outskirts of Sylhet city on July 8, accusing him of stealing and posted the video of the incident online.
The gang including Kamrul beat him to death. The doctors said Rajon died of brain hemorrhage and bore 64 injuries in his body.
Kamrul Islam, Rajon murder case accused, was detained in Jeddah of Saudi Arabia, four days after the brutal killing.
Kamrul was handed over to Saudi police after detention.
A murder case was filed in this connection by Jalalabad police, in which Rajon’s father later became a plaintiff.
Muhit was listed as the prime accused in the case, while his brother Kamrul Islam, 24, their accomplice Ali Haider, 34, and guard Moyna Miah, 45, were charged with murder as well.
On the other hand, Muhit Alam, prime suspect of the brutal killing of Rajon, gave confessional statement before a metropolitan magistrate’s court in Sylhet on Wednesday.
Metropolitan Magistrate-3 Anowarul Haq recorded Muhit’s statement under section 164 of the code of criminal procedure (CrPC) .
Additional Deputy Commissioner (media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police Md Rahmatullah confirmed the news.
On Tuesday, two accused, Noor Miah and Dulal Ahmed, gave confessional statement to the court.
Earlier, another key accused of the murder case Moyna Miah alias Boro Moyna, gave confessional statement in the same court on Monday.
At least 11 suspects, including four accused, have so far been detained in connection with the killing.
In an act of sheer brutality, Rajon was tied to a pole and beaten to death on suspicion of theft in Kumargaon area on July 8.
