With the joint initiative of Bagerhat district administration, district woman affair, SANAC (Sachetan Nagarik Committee), Bagerhat of TIB (Transparency International Bangladesh) and other NGOs (Non-government Organizations) the International Woman Day was celebrated in Bagerhat district town and it’s all the 9 Upazilas in a befitting manner on Sunday as elsewhere of the country and across the world.
 On the occasion a colourful rally that was brought out in the morning from the local Swadhinata Udyan paraded the main roads of the district town ended at Bagerhat Sangskritik Foundation. The rally was led by Md. Mamunur Rashid, DC, Bagerhat.
After the end of the rally a lively discussion meeting was held in the Sangskrtik Foundation with Kamrul Islam, ADC (General), Bagerhat in the chair. Md. Mamunur Rashid, DC, Bagerhat addressed the discussion as the chief guest. It was also addressed among others by Prof. Chowdhury Abdur Rob, President of SANAC, Bagerhat, woman leader Adv. Sharifa Hemayet, Adv. Sita Rani Debnath and NGO personality Asaduzzaman Shaikh.
Khulna(South) Correspondent reports: The International Women’s Day observed here yesterday with put importance on changing the social mindset to eradicate gender disparity for flourishing women leadership and ensuring equal rights of the women at all levels.
The district administrations, Department of Women’s Affairs (DWA), different NGOs and educational institutions, human rights and women organisations and other bodies chalked out elaborates programmes marking the day.
The observance began with colourful rallies led by KCC Mayor which brought out from new market area and ended at the meeting premises after parading different main streets in the city with participation of women, men, girls, adolescents, students, officials and NGO activists followed by seminar, discussions and cultural functions.
Later, KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque attended the main discussion
held at Public Hall premises as chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner of Khulna (General) Ziaur Rahman presided over the function.
Additional Police Commissioner of KMP Sardar Rakibul Islam, Deputy Director of Khulna Regional Information Office M. Javed Iqbal, President of Khulna Press Club SM Nazrul Islam, Regional director of the Archeology Department Afroza Khan Mita and Commander of the Police Tanning Center Taslima Khatun, among others, spoke.
Deputy Director of the Department of Women’s Affairs Nargis Fatema delivered the welcome speech in the discussion meeting.
The chief guest said women of Bangladesh have already proved their abilities and efficiencies in doing everything from managing household works to conquering the Mount Everest significantly contributing to development of the country.
He urged men and women for working unitedly to build discrimination free prosperous ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Bogura Correspondent says: The International Women’s Day was celebrated with various programme in Bogura on Sunday.
Marking the day a rally was organised by the district administration and women’s affairs department has been brought out from the DC office premises and paraded main roads of the town.
Representatives of various NGOs including district administration, police administration officials, Bangladesh Police Women Network, TMSS, village development works Gak and BRAC participated in the rally.
Later a discussion meeting held at the Mujib Manch on International Women’s Day presided over by Shahidul Islam, deputy director while deputy commissioner Foyez Ahmmad addressed in the meeting as chief guest.

To mark the day, Strengthening Women’s Ability for Productive New Opportunities (SWAPNO) in collaboration with local NGO Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK) celebrated the day through elaborate programmes in Shaghata upazila of the district.
A grand rally led by upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Mohiuddin Zahangir was brought out from his office and ended at the same venue after parading the main roads of the upazila headquarters.
