International woman trafficker put on remand

A Dhaka court yesterday placed an international woman trafficking group element on a four-day remand in a case filed in connection with torturing of woman in India.
On Thursday, Magistrate Shahinur Rahman of the CMM Court of Dhaka passed the remand order. Earlier, Hatirjheel Police Station Inspector Mohiuddin Faruk, who is the Investigation Officer of the case, produced accused Akbar Ali in the court with a ten-day remand plea.
In the same case, two other accused Mehedi Hasan Babu and Mohiuddin made confessions voluntarily on June 9 while another accused Abdul Kader was sent to the jail on completion of his remand. So far, four accused made confession in the court in this case.
A trafficked Bangladeshi woman escaped from confinement and torture in India after 77 days and filed the case with Hatirjheel Police Station of the city on June 1. She accused a total of 12 people in the case.
