International Tourism Fair kicks off today

A fourday international tourism fair under the style NOVOAIR Dhaka Travel Mart 2016 is scheduled to start at the Ball Room of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel from Friday, according to a press release.
Rashed Khan Menon, MP, Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism has given his consent to formally inaugurate the fair at 4.00 pm.
The Bangladesh Monitor, a travel and tourism publication of the country is organising the fair. NOVOAIR, a private airline of the country is supporting the event as the Title Sponsor while Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) and national carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines as the partners of the fair.
Kazi Wahidul Alam, Chairman of the NOVOAIR DTM?2016 organising committee disclosed the schedule at a Press Conference held on Wednesday at a city hotel.
Bhubon Chandra Biswas, Director, Bangladesh Tourism Board, Syed Ahasan Hossain Kazi, General Manager, Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Mofizur rahman, Managing Director, NOVOAIR. also addressed the press conference among others.
“With a view to unlock country’s tourism potential we launched the annual event thirteen years back. We believe that Dhaka Travel Mart has succeeded to play some role in the development of country’s tourism sector,” Kazi Wahidul Alam said.
“For a sustainable tourism sector we need to attract more foreign tourists. Lot of things to be done in this connection. First of all we need to identify the appropriate tourism product and promote world wide, specially in those countries from where we may expect tourists. At the same time communication and other infrastructure, skilled human resources also need to be developed.’
About 50 organisations from different countries have confirmed their participation in the fair, including National Tourism Organisations (NTOs), Airlines, Tour Operators, Hotels, Resorts and Healthcare service providers.
Participating organisations during the 4?day fair will offer special discount on airfares and other tourism products and services. Attractive tour packages for domestic and foreign destinations will be available for the visitors.
On sideline of the fair a round table conference on ‘MICE Tourism in Bangladesh’ will be held on Saturday. Abdul Matlub Ahmad, President FBCCI will be present as the Chief Guest.
Tourism Malaysia and Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will host different activities including B2B meetings during the fair.
A high-power delegation of Tourism Malaysia will visit Dhaka along with a cultural troupe to attend the fair.
Visitors will be able to go around the fair from 5 pm – 9 pm on Friday and from 10 am to 8 pm on from Saturday to Monday paying an entry fee of Tk. 25.
Raffle draw on the entry coupons will be held on the concluding day, April 11, at 7.30 pm at the fair venue in front of visitors. Prizes will include airline tickets to various destinations at home and abroad, exciting tour packages, star hotel accommodation, lunch/dinner coupons and others.
