Religious scholars of different faiths unanimously observed that more interfaith dialogues and intensified campaign could be effective means of maintaining communal harmony in the society.
They viewed that more initiatives should be taken for arranging interfaith dialogues so that the public in general including the leaders of influences could understand the importance of communal harmony in the greater interest of brightening the country’s image in the global arena.
Divisional office of Islamic Foundation (IF) and district unit of Christians Unity Interfaith Dialogue Commission (CUIDC) jointly organized the views-sharing meeting titled “Interfaith Dialogue and Communal Harmony” at IF seminar hall in Rajshahi yesterday.
IF Divisional Director Mahbub Alam and Deputy Director of Imam Training Academy AKM Monirul Islam addressed the discussion as chief and special guests respectively with CUIDC President Bishop Severest Rosario in the chair.
During his keynote presentation, Mufti Shahadat Ali, Principal of Jamiya Islamia Shahmukdum Madrasha, focused on the importance of interfaith dialogue in the light of Islam.
He said “Islam completely disallows extremism and attacks on other religions.
He said the lifestyle and philosophy of Islamic saints showed the path of harmony among followers of different faiths.
