Interest-free car loans for Bank officials

Tk 45,000 monthly maintenance payment proposed

The Financial Institutions Division under the Ministry of Finance will convene a meeting next week to finalise the draft of the revised car loan policy for the officials of the government owned banks and financial institutions.
The meeting will be held on 28 November at 11am in the conference room of the Ministry, with Financial Institutions Division Secretary Md Asadul Islam in chair.
Senior Ministry officials and Chief Executive Officers of public banks and financial institutions will be present at the meeting.
Admitting the matter, a Finance Ministry official told The New Nation yesterday that the government had taken the move to revise the policy considering the needs of the bank officials and make it time befitting.
 
“A thorough discussion is expected to be held on the draft policy at the meeting prior to finalizing it,” he added.
According to the draft car loan policy, officials of Bangladesh Bank, Sonali Bank, Janata Bank, Agrani Bank, Rupali Bank, BASIC Bank, Bangladesh Development Bank, Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank, Probashi Kallyan Bank, Palli Sanchay Bank, Ansar-VDP Unnayan Bank, Karmasangsthan Bank, House Building Finance Corporation and Investment Corporation of Bangladesh can avail the car.
The maximum ceiling of the loan has been proposed at Tk 30 lakh, fixing the loan tenure up to eight years with zero interest rates.
The ceiling of the loan can be increased prior to approval from the Board of the respective Banks and financial institutions with consent from the Financial Institutions Division.
Those who are holding the post of AGM/equivalent and above will be entitled to avail the car loans and a monthly payment of Tk 45,000 as car maintenance, according to the draft of the revised car policy.
