The Department of Law, East West University (EWU) has organized its second interdisciplinary seminar titled “Interfaces of Law and Economics: Bangladesh Context” recently at the SM Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery, EWU Campus, Aftabnagar in the capital.
Dr AK Enamul Haque, Professor, Department of Economics, EWU was the keynote speaker of the seminar. In his lecture, he emphasized on making the law economically efficient. He observed that making laws that should ensure economic growth through fair competition among individuals and companies. He discussed the necessity of making laws that would encourage innovation. In this regard, he gave the example of the European Union Council’s fine imposed on Google for mandatory pre-installing Google Chrome as the default browser, which led to creating a monopoly for Google, and destroyed other companies’ ability to compete.
