UNB, Dhaka :
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has said the government will introduce ‘interactive digital textbooks’ for school students on an experimental basis from the next education year.
Besides the conventional textbooks, class VI students will get ‘interactive digital textbooks’ from the academic year 2016, and students of other classes will get the digital textbooks gradually later, he said on Sunday while addressing the closing ceremony of a workshop at National Academy for Education Management (Naem).
The Education Minister noted that there is no alternative to adopting information technology to ensure quality development, comprehensiveness, attraction and access to education.
“Textbooks must be filled with more colours and made more attractable. We’ve have taken the initiative to introduce interactive digital textbooks for all the classes,” he said.
To make the hard words, sentences and topics in all the books more comprehensive, colourful photos, animation and videos will be used in those interactive books, he added.
Chaired by Secondary and Higher Education Directorate director general Prof Fahima Khatun, the programme was also addressed by Education Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan, Teaching Quality Improvement Project director Bonomali Bhowmik and NAEM director general Prof Hamidul Haque.
