North South University (NSU) and the first and only ACM female student chapter of Bangladesh, North South University ACM-W Student Chapter jointly organized the Inter-University Women’s Programming Competition (Season 2) on Friday at NSU premises. This programming competition was organized for girls who are studying computer science. The main purpose of the program is to encourage girls to study in computer science and to make them more interested in contributing to information technology.
Numerous students from different universities register for the competition, from which, after the primary selection, 240 contestants from 80 teams from all over the country participate in the final competition held at North South University. Students from 41 universities across the country participated in the event.
The entire four-hour competition was run in accordance with the norms of recognized programming competition around the world. The champion team was from Jahangirnagar University JU night fury, 1st runner up team was from Daffodil International University-DIU heuristics and the 2nd runner up team was from the University of Chittagong- CU breakdown. The Chief Guest of the event, Mustafa Jabbar, Minister of the Ministry of Post and Telecommunication handed over the prizes to the winners.
Vice-Chancellor of NSU, Prof Dr Atiqul Islam and Pro Vice-Chancellor (D) of NSU, Prof Dr GU Ahsan was present as the Special Guests.
Mustafa Jabbar said, Due to the strong and sincere efforts of the Government, women are moving very fast in the field of information and communication technology. Women are being encouraged to contribute to information technology by providing training through public and private initiatives. As a result, the presence of female students in computer science in both education and career is increasing significantly. During this time, he thanked the authority of North South University for organizing the competition and assured them of all kinds of cooperation in such a future program.
Among others, Directors of different departments, Deans of different faculties, Head of Departments, Faculty Advisor of North South University ACM-W Student Chapters, renowned academics of the country, successful people in information technology and leading personnel of related field of different universities were present during the programme.
