An inter-ministerial meeting of expatriate welfare ministry, its divisions and offices concerned were held to prevent human trafficking in the name of migration.
The meeting decided to scrutinize all stages of working visas more carefully, said an official press release.
Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Secretary Dr Nomita Halder presided over the meeting held at the ministry’s conference room.
The meeting was held recently after a report on ‘human trafficking groups formed for Libya and Sudan’.
The meeting decided to take more cautionary measures in sending workers to Libya, Sudan and Egypt.
Besides, it also decided to remain alert on visit visas and overstay in different countries especially in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with employment.
High officials of home and foreign affairs ministries, wage-earners welfare board, BOESEL, Special Branch (SB), S S Immigration and police attended the meeting.
