The government has convened an inter-ministerial meeting today to strengthen security measures ahead of the National Mourning Day on August 15.
“All possible measures would be taken to ensure security in the capital and elsewhere,” Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told BSS here on Monday.
The Home Minister will preside over the meeting on law and order to be held at his ministry’s conference room at 2.30 pm.
The National Mourning Day marking the martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be observed on August 15.
The meeting would ask the law enforcement agencies for taking stringent security measures in the capital and elsewhere of the country with deployment of adequate security personnel on the day, Khan said.
He said members of law enforcement agencies including police, anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and different intelligence agencies, both in uniform and plain clothes would remain alert to prevent any untoward incident on the day.
The minister said law enforcement agencies will beef up security in and around Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi. He urged all city dwellers to extend necessary help and support to the members of the law enforcement agencies on the security issue.
