Narayanganj College became champions of the Marcel 2nd Inter-College Women’s Rugby Competition defeating Central Women’s College by 19-5 points in the final at the Paltan Maidan on Tuesday.
After the final match, noted sports organizer Farida Akter Bagum distributed the prizes as the chief, while Operative Director (Head of Sports & Welfare Department) of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn was with her as the special guest.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Rugby Union (BRU) Mousum Ali, Joint-Secretary of BRU Sayeed Ahmed, Secretary of the Tournament Committee Parvin Putul were present, among others.

Ali, who arrived with England 210-5 and wobbling at the County Ground, devastated the West Indian bowling with the second fastest ODI century by an Englishman. He went from 50 to 100 in a jaw-dropping 12 deliveries, an ODI record. He raced past 50 and to his century by hitting eight sixes and two fours in the space of 14 balls. Ali smashed 61 runs from those 14 balls.
“It was my best ODI innings,” he said. “Everything seemed to come off today and it was nice to get myself in. It was just good to play a few shots.
“I feel very confident in my own game but the main thing is that we’re winning the series. Hopefully we win it 4-0.”
