Viqarunnisa, Tongi Amzad Ali in final

Viqarunnisa Noon School & College and Tongi Amzad Ali College moved in the final of the Walton 1st Inter-College Women’s Baseball Tournament on Wednesday.
In the day’s first semi-final, Viqarunnisa Noon School & College blanked Dhaka Commerce College by four goals to nil at Sultana Kamal Women’s Sports Complex in Dhanmondi.
In the day’s second semi-final, Tongi Amzad Ali College defeated Holy Cross College by 4-0 goals at the same venue.
Today Viqarunnisa Noon School & College will take on Tongi Amzad Ali College in the final at the same venue.
Bangladesh Baseball-Softball Association has arranged the baseball competition under auspices of Walton Group.

Nasir wins eight-round in Barbera Del Valles Chess

Bangladesh Navy’s FIDE Master Sk Nasir Ahmed beat international Master Lorenzo de la Riva Lazaro of Spain and shared the third position along with other six players after the eight-round match held on Tuesday in Barcelona city in Spain.
With this win, Nasir secured six points out of eight matches. He needs only a draw in the ninth or last round game to achieve one International Master Norm in this event.

Spieth to defend Australian

World number three Jordan Spieth confirmed Tuesday he will defend his title at the Australian Open this year, an event that helped kickstart his career.
The American, fresh off his 10th US PGA Tour victory at the Travelers Championship last month, said it was a tournament close to his heart, having won twice.
“I look back at the win in 2014 at The Australian, which is a great memory, and it definitely helped build momentum for a successful 2015,” he said in a statement issued through organisers.
