The National Library Day was observed in Kishoreganj on Wednesday. Kishoreganj District Administration arranged a discussion meeting and rally marking the day. A discussion meeting held on Govt. Public Library Conference Room.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education , ICT) Md. Habibur Rahman presided over the meeting. Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarwar Murshed Chowhdury was attended as chief guest.
It was addressed among others by Addtional Police Super Anirban Chowdhury, District Education Officer (Acting) Md. Zulfiqure Hossain, Kishoreganj Govt. Mohila College Lecturare Shakil Sarker, Non Government Public Library President Md. Ruhul Amin, Adv Auyb Bin Haider and Assistant Prof Samiul Hoque Mollah spoke on the occasion.

BSS from Rajshahi reports: The National Public Library Day was observed in Rajshahi in befitting manner on Wednesday with the call of enlightening people after the best uses of public libraries.
To mark the day, Divisional Public Library and district administration jointly organised a rally from Ghoshpara crossing. After parading some of the city streets, the rally ended at the collectorate building premises followed by a brief discussion.
Deputy Director of Local Government Division Parvez Raihan, Deputy Director of Divisional Public Library Abu Sayeed and former Principal of Rajshahi Teachers Training College Professor Abdus Samad Mondal addressed the discussion highlighting the significance of the day as well.
On the occasion, 25 people, in four groups, were given prizes for their laudable performance in reading the book written on the unfinished biography of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Various educational institutions including Rajshahi University (RU) also observed the day through separate programmes. RU Central Library and the Department of Information Science and Library Management jointly brought out a rally in the campus.
RU Pro-VC Prof Chowdhury Jakaria, Administrator of the Central Library Prof Subhash Chandra Sheel and Proctor Prof Lutfor Rahman, among others, addressed a post-rally discussion on the occasion.
Prof Jakaria said the role of library is immense towards building knowledgeable and enlightened society.
He also said book always makes people beautiful, bright and prosperous. Only the people enriched with prosperous heart can build bright Bangladesh.
 BSS from Rangpur adds: Academics and government officials at a discussion on Wednesday stressed on inspiring the youths and young generations in becoming library-oriented and acquire knowledge for building an enlightened and peaceful society.
They made the observation at the post-rally discussion jointly organised by the district administration and Divisional Public Library (DPL) at its seminar room in the city in observance of the National Library Day.
The day was observed aiming at highlighting the importance of libraries, books and building reading habit in the daily life of the common people, especially youths and young generations, to enrich their moral values and knowledge.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan inaugurated the observance by releasing balloon and led the rally before attending the discussion as the chief guest with former Principal of Rangpur Carmichael College Professor Dr. Rezaul Haq in the chair.
Moderated by Assistant Director of the Divisional Public Library Md. Abed Ali, Professor of Begum Rokeya University Dr. Parimal Chandra Barman and Librarian of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University Md. Alauddin Khan addressed the discussion as special guests.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Shukria Pervin, Associate Professor of Rangpur Government Begum Rokeya College Md. Azharul Islam, noted literarily personality AKM Shahidur Rahman Bishu also spoke.
The chief guest called upon the youths, young generations and students to regularly go to the libraries and read various types of books to enrich their diversity of knowledge and enlighten them for contributing to building a peaceful society.
Comparing the libraries with the ocean-like treasures of knowledge, Professor Dr. Haq suggested everyone, especially younger generation, to become library-oriented for building book reading habit to acquire knowledge.
Other speakers discussed the essence of libraries those have been playing a very important role in enhancing book reading habit of the people to enrich knowledge by removing ignorance to build a more civilised and enlightened society.
