A sub-inspector of Mahipal Highway Police Station in Feni, who was injured in a road accident on Tuesday night, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam Azad, a resident of Fatehabad village in Muradpur upazila of Comilla district.
Officer-in-charge of Mahipal Highway Police Station Saleh Ahmed Pathan said a Dhaka-bound truck from Chittagong hit Azad violating his signal in Mahipal on the Chittagong-Dhaka highway near Mahipal Filing Station at about 10:30 pm, leaving him seriously injured.
He was first rushed to Feni Sadar Hospital from where he was referred to DMCH.
Later, he was admitted to DMCH at about 6:00 am on Wednesday, where he succumbed to his injures at about 9:45 in the morning.
Father of two children, Azad joined Bangladesh Police as a constable in 1997.
He joined Mahipal Highway Police Station as a sub-inspector in 2014.
