Initiatives taken to build disabled friendly schools

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said the government has taken initiative to build disabled friendly establishments in schools and to supply special learning materials including textbook for the disabled students.
“We are working relentlessly to bring disabled students in mainstream education through creating proper academic environment,” he said this on Tuesday while speaking at concluding session of a seminar on Autism at NAEM auditorium here.
Under Autistic Academy Project, the minister said, special teachers are being created to serve special children with disability.
The minister urged non-government organizations, volunteer bodies and individuals to provide their support to the government for carrying out this noble initiative.
Presided over by director general of secondary and higher education department Professor Fahima Khatun, the session was also addressed by vice chairman of national advisory committee on autism Professor Dr Pran Gopal Dutta and project director of autistic academy project Salma Begum.
