Expatriate Employment and Overseas Welfare Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain Tuesday said the government is working to send more workers to European countries, as 65,536 workers went there with jobs during 2002-2014 period.
“Initiative is underway to send more workers to the European countries,” he said while replying to a written question from treasury bench member M Abdullah in the House.
He said 1,099 overseas workers with clearance from Bangladesh Manpower Employment Bureau (BMET) went to Belarus during the last two years, adding, “We are sending overseas workers to 160 countries globally.”
The government is working to search new destination for sending workers, adding, “We have 28 labour wings in Bangladesh missions abroad.”
If we increase labour wing along with appointing more manpower then Bangladesh can seize more opportunities to send more workers,” the minister added.
