Infrastructure dev may ensure possible economic uplift : CCCI

A roundtable meet between Chittagong Chamber o f commerce and American Chamber was held at WTC in Chittagong on Tuesday .
 The subject of the meet was US_Bangladesh Bilateral Trade and Investment Relations’ jointly arrangedby CCCI and AmCham . Presidentof the CCCI Mahbubul Alam presided over it while the ChargeD Affairs of American Embassy in Bangladesh HE Mr.Joel Reifman graced it as Chief Guest.
The American diplomat in his brief deliverations emphasised the need of infrastructure development for desired goal of the economic development .Among others, CCCI vice President Syed Jamal Ahmed, Commercial officer of US Embassy Mr. Eduar Garcia, Vice President of AmCham Sowkat Ali, Chamber Director Anjan sekhar Das, Md. Jahedul Hoque, former senior vice president MA Salam, and other former Directors of Ctg chamber were present on the occasion.
3rd US-funded ‘Makerspace’ opens
Charge d’ Affaires of the US Embassy in Dhaka Joel Reifman officially inaugurated “The Makerspace” at Chittagong Independent University’s American Corner on Wednesday.
While inaugurating the centre, Reifman said, “The Makerspace” is a centre where young learners will try to look for answers, solve problems as well as try to do something new through regular exercises.
This centre has Mindstorm EV3 lego set, Makerbot 3D printer and many more advanced technologies with which the students will be able to broaden their knowledge, he said, adding that so far three such Makerspaces have been establishedin Bangladesh including Chittagong.
Mentioning that the number of Bangladeshi students in the US is increasing, the acting US ambassador in Dhaka said 6,500 Bangladeshi students in total are studying in the US. Bangladesh holds the 11th position in the list of countries with the most foreign students in the US.
Joel Reifman went to Chittagong on Wednesday for a two-day visit, which is his first visit outside Dhaka as the Charge d’ Affaires of the US Embassy in Dhaka.
