Deputy Speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah Saturday said the government led by Sheikh Hasina is intensifying different infrastructural development works in rural areas to build a middle income country by 2021.
“As 80 percent people live in the rural areas of the country, the rural people should be brought under the modern facilities of the state to strengthen the rural economy through changing their life style and socio-economic condition gradually”, he said.
Deputy speaker said this while addressing a function on the occasion of the foundation stone laying of infrastructural development works at Munshirhat under Shaghata upazila on Saturday afternoon as the chief guest.
Mentioning the different welfare activities implemented in the upazila during the immediate past AL led government the deputy speaker said more development works would be done during the tenure of the present government to turn the upazila into a model one.
Executive Engineer of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) M. Belal Hossain, UNO Abdul Awal, upazila engineer of LGED M. Sabiul Islam, acting president of upazila AL Nazmul Huda Dudu, and political leaders including the journalists were present on the occasion.
Different infrastructural works like shade construction, internal roads and butchers’ shop were being implemented under the supervision of LGED at the cost of TK 42 lakh. Asian Development Bank provided the fund, office sources said.
