To mark the International Information Day’ 2016, the Regional Reporting Society (the RRS) has organized an ‘Information Olympiad’ at Sinha Higher Secondary School of Sonargaon Upazilla in Narayanganj recently.
Chief Information Commissioner of Bangladesh Prof Dr Md. Golam Rahman was the chief guest at the certificate distribution ceremony of the Olympiad held on last Thursday at the scholl auditorium.
Principal of the College Md. Abdur Rahman presided over the function while Central Coordinator of Sujan, Dilip Kumar Sarker was the special guest. the RRS CEO Farrukh Khosru gave the welcome speech. The program was moderated by Mahmud Rasel.
Zillur Rahman, convener of the Olympiad gave special thanks to attendees. He said, it is our pleasure to say that the RRS is the first organization in Bangladesh to organize such Olympiad on ‘Right to Infromation (R2I)’.
The chief guest Dr Golam Rahman said, if the students are made conscious of the right to information, then the future of this nation will be more glorified.
He hoped, such Olympiad will help create ‘Digital Bangladesh. ‘We can expect to live in a middle income country by building a ‘Sonar Bangla’ if the people of this country are aware of their rights and responsibilities through the proper utilisation of ‘right to information act’.
More than five hundred students took part in the competition. Teachers, students, guardians and local elites were present on the occasion.
